I Ascend: Who is Dr. Jana Bishop-Mitten?

Jana: I am a child of the Most High God, I’m a daughter of the king and I am on this journey of life to learn, to inspire, to educate and empower other people along this journey.

I Ascend: What has life been like being the eldest daughter of Pastors Lawrence and Darlene Bishop?

Jana: Let me tell you for starters, my parents in their youth were powerhouses, with some couples there will be one dominant partner but both my parents are type A personality powerhouses. They were always movers and shakers, and it has been an absolutely amazing life experience. The life I have been allowed to lead, because of the blessing and favour of the Lord upon their lives is indescribable.

My dad started his first business when he was twelve years old, trading quarter horses when he was just a young boy in Kentucky. My Dad was determined that by the time he was thirty years old he would be a millionaire. Dad pulled himself up by his cowboy bootstraps as it were, and created an empire in a business that not many people had great monetary success in. I believe the first reason is because he followed biblical principles, and he worked hard as he applied those principles. My mother, who was a housewife at the time, began to feel the call to preach and she began preaching to our grandfather clock in the hallway. Each of my parents really had a heart for ministry. They believed in one race, the human race that all ethnicities and all humans would be able to come and worship together. My father started the church almost like a business and we hired a pastor with that dream in mind. The other pastors that were hired, were great men of God, and we had a few of those, it just did not last. Eventually, my dad had to take the mantle of the vision. When he began to take the leadership role it was only then that the people he desired, and that he loved began to come in. One of the ways that we were able to bridge some of the gaps culturally, is through music. This is where I came into the picture in assisting the vision.

I Ascend: What was your experience as the worship leader at Solid Rock Church, what did you take away from that experience?

Jana: Well, for one I learned I really had my dad’s heart and I really inherited, the vision, it kind of rubbed off on me. I asked him if I could start a choir, and they were very resistant at first because this was a long time ago. Honestly, my parents thought that choirs were the people that wore robes only. They were never those kind of people, they were like, get down and let’s have church kind of folk. I assured them that if they let me start the choir that it would be Spirit led. That the worship would be preeminent in the sanctuary. I did not know of any worship choirs at that time. So as a worshipper, I incorporated worship into our little choir that we started with thirty people. We had a small church of about two hundred people when my dad started, the Holy Ghost just fell and people were coming up to me saying they had never experienced a worship service like that before right after service. It was literally a moment, I will never forget. It was one of those suddenly moments that we experienced, providing confirmation that we were on the right track. Everything continued to grow from there with my dad and mom preaching the word of God.

I Ascend: Tell us a bit about doTerra, you have been teaching and coaching on various oils and natural healing for several years is that correct?

Jana: Yes, it has been about seven years now. My parents both believed in supernatural healing. I almost never went to the doctor in my whole life, neither did my siblings. Then I began experiencing a consistent bronchial infection and when I would get on an airplane it would just totally flare up. It would be in my chest and I never felt I could get completely better for about two years. On my way to a venue in Germany, these people had paid thousands of dollars for my travel expenses to get there. I could not even speak, and I had a fever. I am one of the most conscientious, over prepared persons in the world and to not be able to say what I over prepared for was a problem. I was like, God, why aren’t you healing me? One of my good friends asked had I had ever tried breathe oil? I was like, what are you even talking about right now? She replied just try it, and since I trusted her I tried the oil and it helped me tremendously. This struck great curiosity in me and I began to learn more about the company, doTerra essential oils, which is the company I am a brand ambassador and representative for now.

I started studying these various essential oils along with my Bible. I am a Bible geek, too. In my study time, I started to see patterns in the creation of plants and how we were created to live in a garden, surrounded by plants. Even in the nature of our God we see that before the foundation of the earth, the lamb was slain before there was even sin on the earth. God already had a plan for his son to be sacrificed on the cross. Then we can see that even before there was sickness and disease on the earth, the cure was hidden in the plants. The cellular structure of a plant has the same cellular structure as our human bodies. This is by God’s design, and they go to the cellular level to heal even to the mitochondria which is the root. Every sickness starts in your cells, and if you don’t heal the cell, you do not get well.

Once I used that oil from my friend recommended I began to search things out, the Lord begin to illuminate to me that this was a path I needed to go. I began to just immerse myself because I love to learn. God just began to bring people into my path. It allowed me to, empower, educate, inspire people, and help them to fulfil their destiny through learning that their body is their temple and this is literal. The body is this amazing healing machine when you give it what it needs. The human body has the innate ability to heal itself. The Bible says “when one of you are sick call the elders of the church to pray and anoint that one with oil in the name of the Lord, and he will be raised up,” right? With the oil that the temple priests used they did not just bring out the salad dressing babe, they had a technique! They knew to use certain oils for certain things. We even see in the Bible that when Yeshua healed the lepers he told them after they were healed “go back to the priests and be anointed with oil.” There were oils that you could apply to a leper once they had been sealed and healed to stop that infection from spreading again. Some of those oils are Frankincense, cinnamon, Eucalyptus, rosemary, and the essentials that they had available. They knew what to do with the oil they had stored in the temple in that day.

I Ascend: That is some rich, information, you a currently a practitioner, at Shalom Wellness Centre. Congratulations tell us more about that?

Jana: We opened in June two thousand twenty one, it was, a lengthy process but was well worth the journey. I am working alongside Doctor Hope O’Brien, she is a Neurologist and it is her practice which assists patients who desire a natural path. This has been such an amazing opportunity to see God’s healing both spiritually and naturally.

I Ascend: How do you juggle your personal life, ministerial life and being a practitioner as well?

Jana: My children were going off to college so there were no more little ones at home to care for. I told the Lord I wanted to be at a certain level in my company by the time my son who was the last one to graduate from college. I totally forgot about that agreement I had made with the Lord and in April of two thousand twenty, I received a call from one of my leaders in doTerra and she said “Jana you are about to be diamond.” The Lord just brought everything miraculously to a close and as I was looking at my big calendar, and I was flipping the pages, and on April thirtieth, I wrote on that calendar “diamond I did it,” truly God did it. Then it hit me, I got to weeping, crying and saying God, I just wanted to help people and you did the rest. My life’s verse is Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” and literally when it happens that clearly, that beautifully what can you do but love Him and serve our God.

I have been blessed that I do not have to really juggle, they all work perfectly together. There is no separation in being a practitioner of medicine and helping people’s bodies to be healed, because their soul and spirit must be in alignment. So everything I do is all the same. My personal motto for this last year has been “healed people heal people”. This tells me that what I do points not at you, it points directly at me. Am I healed in every area of my life, all the wounds, and all the tribulations? Am I healed of all the things that I have gone through in my life? I ask the question am I healed because I need to be healed, so I may be a healer. That is what I want to do, I want to raise up healers in every home because “healed people heal people.” If I am healed, I can get you healed, then you can go forth and you can heal, that is the goal of my life.

I Ascend: You wear many hats, you are a Worship Leader, Songwriter, Life Coach, Bible Teacher, Prophet, Preacher, and an Aromatic Medicine Practioner. Tell us what do you want people to remember most about you?

Jana: I want people to remember that I loved well that is all I want. I want people to know that the love that I portrayed and that I extended was truly from the Father, and that I am the father’s daughter. We are co-labourers with him, we are to be imitators of Christ. I want to be known as one who loved well as Christ set the example.

I Ascend: What word of advice would you give readers to have them to continue to ascend in pursuit of their dreams, no matter where they are currently?

Jana: I would say dream big. I had a person in my life who believed in dreaming big, my dad had a dream to build this amazing campus that is across the highway from me at Solid Rock Church. He believed that all people would come and worship together in love and fellowship in unity. It is like in the book of Acts chapter two. It is that kind of church, where you can literally walk into history, you can walk on the ground, and you can even walk over to the mausoleum where my dad is buried. My father went on to glory ten years ago but his life work, and his legacy lives on. There is a recording of him preaching in front of the big lake, and fountains near the auditorium that is outside. You can hear him preaching the gospel, and it is such a blessing to me to still be able to hear his voice. There is beautiful carving of his picture in the side of the mausoleum, where he’s buried. I got to write his epitaph, Oh, I am so blessed, and honoured to have done that. My father dreamed big and his dream by the hands of God was made manifest. I would say to every reader no matter what it looks like, dream big. My dad said never, never dream, a dream, unless it is so big, that unless God stepped in, it could never happen. He lived it out; so again I say dream big and follow the principles of the Word of God because they work.

I Ascend: Tell us what you are currently working on and how readers can stay abreast of the things you are doing?

Jana: I’m really focused in on health issues, primarily gut health at this time. What I have discovered about gut health literally, is unbelievable. What is going on in your gut affects your mood, your behaviour, and it even affects your immune system. About eighty five percent of our immune system is in our guts, it affects your hormones and there are little things you can change in your life that will make huge differences.
